At least four people have been killed in what the Indian Army calls a “firing incident” inside a military station in the western state of Punjab.

“Firing incident reported in the early hours of the morning around 0435h (23:05 GMT) inside Bathinda Military Station,” the army said in a statement on Wednesday morning.

Search operations are in progress, the army said.
